2,200kg, 6.1m BN-1 (MarBN) steel Pipe
This is one of four 6.1m pipes produced in IBN-1 (MarBN) steel during the UK Innovate funded IMPULSE project.
The manufacture of these full scale pipes will facilitate the validation the IBN-1 material which is an advanced 3%W; 3%Co; 9%Cr steel, for the use in boilers operating at 630’C to 650’C.
Each pipe weighs 2,200kg with an 329mm OD, and 226mm ID (51.6mm wall thickness).
The pipe is the first of a kind in this new high temperature application material, produced from ingot manufactured by Goodwin Steel Castings Ltd and extruded by Wyman Gordon.
These full scale prototype pipes will be used for both parent and weld characterization.
